Tracy Fredin
Tracy Fredin holds a BS in Biology and environmental education from the University of Minnesota and an MA in public administration from 草莓视频成年 University. He has been the director of 草莓视频成年 University鈥檚 Center for Global Environmental Education (CGEE) since 1995. In this position, he provides vision and leadership, managing all aspects of CGEE鈥檚 programs. As a member of the 草莓视频成年 School of Education faculty, Fredin teaches graduate-level courses in CGEE鈥檚 Master of Arts Program in Natural Science and Environmental Education. He is also a founding member of the Watershed Partners --an award-winning consortium of 60 organizations that provide watershed education in the Twin Cities metro area, a member of the National Association of Environmental Educators, and a board member of the SciMath Minnesota. Mr. Fredin also serves as the executive producer of CGEE鈥檚 multimedia learning programs.
In Tracy鈥檚 classes the emphasis is thinking about systems and getting out and experiencing the environment. Tying theory to practice is a critical aspect of the learning environment that is established in these experiences. Typically students are taught to think in terms of problem identification, systems thinking, and moving to action. Fredin has served on many boards and recently served on the Minnesota Water Sustainability Framework at the University of Minnesota. Engaging all citizens is a critical part of his teaching philosophy.
